¡Love You Mucho! is a short documentary that explores cultural identity, what is gained, and what is lost over multiple generations of Chicago-based Puerto Ricans when both language and memories start to fade.

¡Love You Mucho! is a multi-stage collaborative collage crafted to invent "impossible moments" through the language and form of cinema to connect generations and defy the rules of time, space, and death. Inspired by the magical realism and fantasy genres, it weaves a tapestry of collected dreams and memories into a documentary that investigates issues of identity among the Puerto Rican diaspora in the Midwest and the effect of assimilation and gentrification on this community over generations. The film follows different members of two Puerto Rican families that arrived in the Chicago area in the 1950s. The story weaves the collective memories and hopes of these subjects, the filmmaker’s family members, in celebratory nostalgia that honors the journey and legacies of the uprooted generation for their children, grandchildren, and generations to follow.
